Hello, my name is Verzhine. I am a writer, a teacher, a mother, and a wife. Some may say I am stubborn and restless, but I like to characterize myself as inquisitive and OK; restless. I may not give up easily but it was because of that curiosity I ended up traveling half way across the world and landed in a pan-cultural way station of different ethnicities. Los Angeles has been my second home for the last several years, where I had a chance to rediscover myself, my skills and was able to fulfill my endless curiosity about cultures, world, and people. I never forget where I come from, but I am grateful for where I am right now.
I am grateful for my family, which means the world to me, for my past, which taught me so many useful lessons, and my present, which is an ongoing process of learning and discovering. I am grateful I have a chance to write about what I stand for and what I believe in. I am grateful that through writing I find my sweet spot, which takes me from station to station on this adventure train, and where every station is full of new worlds and new perspectives. Every station is connected to each other, as we all are, in one way or another.
I am honored you visited my website, and I am honored I have the opportunity to share my experiences with you. I pray that I never stop learning and I pray that I always have a "heap of sense to write good nonsense," as Mark Twain would put it.
You can find all my published articles in this website. My opinion article titled “Talk About Race: Saving Cultural Diversity Programs” won two awards. It was granted the second place in competition held by Journalism Association of Community Colleges for Magazine Opinion Story and the third Place in competition held by California College Media Association for Magazine Opinion Story. I have two MA degrees. One of my graduate degrees is in English and the second one is in Religious Studies and I am happy that my background helps me with insight to better understand and appreciate the world around me. Thank you.
